CHELSEA, MI — Police are still looking for a woman who donated a human skull at a southeast Michigan thrift store earlier this year.
The skull was among other donations the woman dropped off Jan. 26 at the Goodwill store located in the 1100 block of South Main Street, according to police.
The human skull was wrapped in a shirt, according to police.
Investigators believe the skull is from a woman between 20 and 49 years old at the time of death. They added the skull is well-preserved with no signs of trauma to the skull. There are also no indications that it was used as a medical or teaching specimen, according to police.
It’s unknown how long ago the person passed away, as police have turned the skull over to the FBI for further testing on Tuesday.
Goodwill Industries officials initially told the Detroit News the skull was a man-made “artifact,” rather than an actual human skull.
Police said they have followed up on dozens of tips but still haven’t identified the woman who donated the skull.
Police believe she is in her 40s or early 50s with shoulder-length brown hair.
